My Volunteering Experience
Giving back to the community has always been important to me. Through my volunteering work, I have had the opportunity to support meaningful causes, connect with inspiring people, and make a positive impact.
Where I Volunteered
The Royal British Legion – Jun 2016 – Present
I first became involved in the RBL when I was just 5 years old, this was because of My Godfather, when he was Branch Secretary. This was my first ever introduction to community service and remembrance, taking part in events, parade and especially poppy appeal, The RBL showed me the importance of honouring those who served and recognising the sacrifices made by previous generations. What did or do I learn from being part of the RBL? I learned the respect for the history and the armed forces, as well as the history behind the Royal British Legion, I also learned how community traditions strengthen local identity and gaining the confidence to speak to members of the public after ceremonies, parades, or selling poppies
The Army Cadet Force – Jun 2023 – Present
I joined The Army Cadet force at 12 years old, and it became a passion to me, it inspired me to be the person I am today, It was the best choice I have done in my life, While in the Army Cadets I have been taught many ways of life including, discipline, teamwork, and leadership, in many ways it could be in a practical way or at a desk, However the training challenges physically and mentally, and the structure helped me even more to speak to new people. So, what did or do learn from the Army Cadets? I learn the responsibility of overseeing many cadets on events, and the leadership on how the ACF strives, I also have learned working as a team in a short amount of time and being under pressure. The things I learn in the ACF such as Navigation, how to read a map, fieldcraft (how to survive in the wild), and first aid, is the life skills. This has also help me shape the person who I am today.
Droitwich Cycling, Walking & Wheeling Group – Jun 2025 – Present
I stated with Droitwich Cycling, Walking & Wheeling Group in June 2025 when I was just 14 years old, I initially help form the organisation, I always had a passion for Active Travel, As an individual I knew what I needed to do to get DCWWG started alongside my colleagues, We had our first meeting in July 25 and there I stated that we must get a Droitwich Bike Bus, and through support from Cllrs’ like Richard and Dan, It inspired me to become more involved with it, whilst Our Bike bus was in the works, We started a Bike Repair Hub on the Westlands Estate in Droitwich Spa, there we welcome anyone from any background it could be they just want their bike checking or they need brakes fixing etc, this is a great opportunity to get that done for free, so I became one of the Bike Repair Managers, and knew I could do what I love most is cycling, The Bike Bus was getting set up and I asked my two amazing Co-Headteachers Mrs Gemma Lloyd-Davies and Mrs Claire Moss if I could have leave for the Bike Bus and I was very thankful they agreed, so fast forward to March, We are starting a new Bike Bus up, What did or do I learn at DCWWG? I learn how to support and successfully promote inclusive community activities, I have also again improved my confidence skills and learned how to successfully communicate between community groups. I have also done an amazing research campaign whilst at DCWWG, on how Active travel improves Mental and Physical wellbeing and bring the Droitwich Community and wider together.
Droitwich Spa Youth Council – Sept 2025 – Present
I joined Droitwich Spa Youth Council at 14, which was my first experience with what we could do to change Droitwich as the next upcoming generation, I realised having a voice in Local choices was how I wanted to experience my youth. It also gave me the incentive to go off and apply for Worcestershire Youth Cabinet, and it gave me the chance to represent my age group and other young people, and raise many issues that mattered to them, and work with adults in positions of responsibility. So what did I learn or am I learning from being a part of DSYC, I have learn and learning on how to represent other peoples’ views and realising actual how confident I can be about my passion, I have also learned so many skills such as planning events and working collaboratively with others.
The Feeding Trust – March 2026 – Present
I volunteer with The Feeding Trust, a UK charity that builds the country’s capability to recognise and support children’s feeding development through evidence, training, advocacy, and research. As part of the team, I help to raise awareness, support the development and delivery of online resources, and contribute to projects that signpost families to high-quality clinical care. Volunteering with The Feeding Trust matters to me because it helps turn specialist knowledge into practical support, ensuring children and their families can access the expert help they need for healthy, confident feeding.
Worcestershire County Youth Cabinet – Feb 2025 – Present
Worcestershire County Council Youth Council serves as an essential platform for young people in the county, empowering them to voice their opinions and engage in local decision-making processes. The council comprises elected representatives aged 11 to 18, who work collaboratively to influence policies and initiatives that impact their communities. Through various projects and discussions, the Youth Council aims to address issues relevant to youth, fostering leadership skills and encouraging active citizenship among its members. Their advocacy efforts play a crucial role in shaping a better environment for the younger generation in Worcestershire.
What I Learned
Volunteering has strengthened my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. It has also taught me the value of empathy, responsibility, and dedication to a cause greater than myself.
Why It Matters to Me
Contributing my time and energy to help others has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It has shaped who I am and continues to inspire me to stay involved in my community.
